circa 1890, 30in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (some loss to finish), ribs engraved 'JNO. RIGBY & CO. 72. ST. JAMES'S ST. LONDON AND DUBLIN.' in gothic script and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, treble-grip actions incorporating J. Rigby and T. Bissell patent rising third bites, patent no. 1141 of 1879, use numbers 489 and 490, removable striker discs, action numbers 2202 and 2203, carved leaf fences, slender toplevers, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, dipped-edge lockplates, border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining traces of colour-hardening and finish (some spots of surface rust), 14 1/4in. figured stocks (possible replacements), fore-ends with Rigby patent grip catch release levers engraved 'RIGBY'S PATENT' and ejector / non-ejector selector nuts, weight 6lb. 6oz.
